The LAB of the Yamas

$35There are eight ‘limbs’ to the Yoga Sutras, principles or guidelines for life, each describing a different aspect of the yoga practice, and a different step on the ladder to realization.
The Yamas and the Niyamas are two of these limbs. Heather Frazer will guide these workshops in an interactive way exploring how the application of the Yamas and Niyamas relate to modern life. A mix of lecture, discussion, and gentle practice. The practice will be adaptable for all bodies and all belief systems are welcome.This Event Package is broken up in to two 2 HR sessions;
1.) May 14th – The Yamas (can inform how we relate to the world)
- Ahimsa (non-harming or non-violence in thought, word and deed)
- Satya (truthfulness)
- Asteya (non-stealing)
- Brahmacharya (celibacy or ‘right use of energy’)
- Aparigraha (non-greed or non-hoarding)
2.) June 4th – the Niyamas (help us have a healthy relationship to self.)
- Saucha (cleanliness)
- Santosha (contentment)
- Tapas (discipline, austerity or ‘burning enthusiasm)
- Svadhyaya (study of the self and of the texts)
- Isvara Pranidhana (surrender to a higher being, or contemplation of a higher power.
