Harness Your Prana! A 3-Week Bhanda Workshop Series

Begin a journey of discovery and delve into the three primary Bandhas with Sasha McDougall. Whether you’re a newcomer to yoga or have been on the path for a while, this series provides an opportunity to deepen your connection with these transformative practices.
Each week, we’ll explore the unique applications, qualities, and benefits of each Bandha, offering practical guidance on integrating them into your Asana, pranayama, and meditation.
The Bandhas are energetic locks used in yoga practice to control the flow of prana (life force) within the body. There are three main Bandhas that we will focus on each session:
Week 1: Mulabandha (Root Lock)
Date: Saturday September 14th
Engage the muscles of the pelvic floor to control the flow of energy upward.
Benefits: Ground yourself and release, firmly anchoring in the present moment.
Practice: Techniques to engage and release Mulabandha, and integrating it into Asana and pranayama practices.
Week 2: Uddiyana Bandha (Abdominal Lock)
Date:  Saturday September 21st
Involves drawing the abdomen inward and upward toward the spine to stimulate the digestive organs and direct energy upward.
Benefits: Illuminate your path forward, empowering you to rise up and confidently confront life’s challenges.
Practice: Guided exercises to master Uddiyana Bandha, and applying it in various yoga sequences.
Week 3: Jalandhara Bandha (Throat Lock)
Date: Saturday September 28
Involves gently lowering the chin toward the chest to create a subtle compression at the throat, regulating the flow of energy in the upper body.
Benefits: Cultivate clarity and nourishment, enhancing focus and fostering a nourished pranic field around your heart.
Practice: Techniques to refine Jalandhara Bandha, and using it in meditation and pranayama.
